Purpose of the Job

Attention: The position is located in Brussels

 

The purpose of the job Manager Public and Governmental Affairs Europe is to take over the responsibility for all advocacy activities in Brussels. This encompasses a continuous qualified monitoring of developments in the administrative space that might result in regulations that have an impact on Sasol's business activities in Europe. It includes the coordination of memberships in European associations as well as the identification and coordination of public funding oportunities.   

Key Accountabilities

Policy Lead 

  • Lead on policy (policies, legislation, regulations, standards) and stakeholder management of Sasol in Brussels. This encompasses a continuous qualified monitoring of developments in the administrative space that might result in regulations that have an impact on Sasol’s business activities in Europe

Networking activities in Brussels 

  • Take over responsibility for all networking activities in Brussels and manage key relationships with relevant stakeholders e.g. European Commission, government and administration representatives. 

Coordinate memberships in European associations

  • Represent Sasol at relevant business association committees and work actively in relevant working groups
  • Participate in events and panels and brief other Sasol colleagues for events or meetings.

Public funding management 

  • Manage the mapping of Sasol project ideas to potential public funding programs
  • Coordinate the application and the corresponding communication activities

Communication

  • Clearly articulate Sasols positions with stakeholders

Formal Education

  • University degree

Working Experience

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant professional experience

Required personal and professional experience

  • Professional experience in advocacy work within the political landscape of Brussels and an existing corresponding network
  • Good knowledge of energy policy and technical understanding is an advantage
  • Reliability and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills across various levels (internal/external)
  • Very good written and spoken English skills; Italian is desirable
