Purpose of Job

A Maintenance Operator assists an Artisan with the installation and maintenance of Plant Equipment, supporting production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, and utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant and/or equipment.

Key Accountabilities

• Do routine maintenance inspections and tasks;
• Report on deviations and defects to foreman or plant artisan;
• Assist Artisans in daily activities;
• Correction of inspection defects;
• Maintain good housekeeping;
• Service and general maintenance on mechanical equipment;
• Adherence to quality and safety systems;
• Hazard identification/task risk assessments.

Formal Education

• Grade 12 or Equivalent with Maths & Science;
• Code 08 driver’s license.

Working experience

• Between 3-5 years’ experience in an Explosives Plant;
• Must be able to work shifts;
• Must be able to work overtime.
