Purpose of Job
- Support sustainable maximisation of Natref's profitability through production accounting.
- Ensure the integrity of the Refinery's mass balance.
- Support the planning, split and performance evaluation processes by ensuring accurate mass balance information is available on IRIS database.
- Support Operations Asset Management and plant support Process Engineers by identifying and reporting suspect meters to be calibrated through analysis of mass balance.
- Troubleshoot deviation with both internal and external parties.
- Coordinate Industry wide Refinery benchmark studies (Solomon)
- Track Refinery performance against integrated performance Indexes -Losses/Energy.
- Facilitate external audits to ensure compliance to Set standards (SOX)etc.
- Responsible for the compilation and distribution of accurate monthly production information reports to Natref and its Shareholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform daily and monthly mass balance reconciliations.
- Accuracy of the Refinery mass balance
- Reporting of suspect meters to Operations
- Ensure accurate representation of Aspen Operations Reconciliation Accounting Program (AORA)
- Ensure accurate Mass Balance information is available timeously.
- Report trends of production deviation from plan
- Report trends of yield deviation from plan
- Sign off on monthly SOx audits.
- Adherence to SHE strategy to achieve zero harm.
- Communicate month end official results.
- Facilitate yearend stock audits done by Sasol and KPMG auditors.
- Participate in audits like: Sustainable Development, Refinery losses, crude oil and other audits that involve refinery operating data.
- Discuss unit mass balance deviances, flow meter inaccuracies and unit performance indicators.
- Discuss integrity of daily/monthly results, application of procedures monthly and daily reporting deadlines
- Escalate discrepancies on COP intake volumes vs. Natref tank deviances and discuss month end crude reporting.
- Co-ordination with integrated refinery information system (IRIS) reporting and facilitate building of new reports.
- Discuss density and MW results and deviations.
- Follow up on compliance to movement logging systems.
- Discuss monthly refinery performance.
Formal Education
Bachelor of Science Engineering, Advanced or National Diploma or equivalent qualification.
Work Experience
- Experience within Refinery or Petrochemical industry and prior experience with mass balance reconciliation programs will be an advantage.
- The incumbent should have a good understanding of the Crude Oil Refining value chain. Moreover, the incumbent should have a sound understanding of process unit operations including the constraints and flexibilities.
- The incumbent should have good communication and presentation skills.
- A high degree of computer literacy is required, and the incumbent must be able to interpret production plans.
