Purpose of Job
Take ownership and do inspections on pipeline operations inland network assets to prevent and minimise the risk of third-party intervention and subsequent damage to the gas pipeline network and other pipeline operations assets. The incumbent will be responsible for the following underground pipelines: methane rich gas pipeline from Secunda to Witbank and Middleburg (SWM pipeline), natural gas pipeline from Secunda to Carolina( MSP), methane rich gas pipeline in Newcastle(KZN) and five other pipelines from Secunda to Sasolburg.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct visual inspections
- Conduct site meetings
- Examine equipment and complete safety checklist
- Report all unsafe conditions to line manager
- Housekeeping
- Operate the pressure reduction stations in the pipeline network
- Operate the valve on the gas/fuel pipeline network
- Helicopter pipeline inspections
- General Duties
Formal Education
- Grade 12 with Maths & Science or N3 Maths & Engineering Science (must)
- NQF Level 2 (Electrical, Mechanical or Instrument)
- 1 year experience as Trainee Gas Pipeline Controller
- Code B/08 driver’s license and competent light motor vehicle driver
- Safety standby and gas monitor experience
- PTW Issuing competency
- OSH Act experience (wish)
- Computer literacy
- Basic hand tools
