Purpose of Job
This role provides Industrial Engineering to the Regional Operations & Asset Services (RO&AS) environment, in order to enable the RO&AS business targets and strategy.
Deliver services and intelligence in line with industrial engineering, in the assigned operations hub.
Enable the Sasol Operations Standards framework by continues improvement and evaluating the strategic asset lifecycle value optimization for all assets impacted by the company’s long term strategy.
Actively identifying opportunities via system analysis and develop and implementing lean, practical and focused business solutions.
The application of Industrial Engineering to enable continuous improvement is high on the agenda.
Key Accountabilities
Business Results
- Supporting and enabling the RO&AS strategy by applying industrial engineering skills, techniques and knowledge to leverage company resources to rationalize, optimize and improve both production and nonproduction processes
- Identify improvement opportunities
- Investigate opportunities, design practical solutions and sustainably implementation
- Delivery of intelligence and services in line with industrial engineering
- Establish, and ensure a standardised approach to strategic asset lifecycle
- Provide inputs into improvement plans
Governance and Compliance
- Assure operating performance and drive improvements within RO&AS.
- Provide practical implementation solutions.
- Support the establishment and ensure an integrated improvement system (IIS), containing both enabling and operational practices and required performance standards in the operations hub.
- Delivering and informing (including optimization on operations improvement opportunities as per agreed targets & schedules.)
Leadership and Strategic Direction
- Identify improvement opportunities in ROAS
- Investigate opportunities, design practical solutions and sustainably implement
- Coach of other Industrial engineers EIT’s in the team
- Evaluation of analysis to direct business to ensure optimal and lean solutions that are sustainable in the business
- Build effective working relationships with operations management
- Guide & direct operations hub in the rollout of sustained application and improvement solutions developed
People Management
- To apply operations excellence and asset management principles & practices, execute business improvement plans via industrial engineering support
- Support to coach Engineers in Training (EITs) pipeline through bursaries and GDP
- Share and transfer knowledge and experience with colleagues.
- Complete training activities according to training matrix and PDP.
- Support candidate IE’s and vacation work students for development.
SHE Performance
- Responsible for own safety through compliance
- Execute SHE strategy to achieve zero harm.
- Notify management of SHE risks identified.
- Zero injuries.
Continuous Improvement
- Represent the interests and requirements of ROAS through continuous improvements.
- Participate in communities of practice in the Operations Hub relating to operations standards, practices performance measurement, improvement and energy efficiency
- Provide system and process intelligence to the hub’s operations to drive continuous improvement and operational optimization.
- Demonstrate Continuous improvement of implemented opportunities.
Formal Education
B.Eng. Industrial a Must
Working Experience
Typically 3 years relevant experience in IE projects environment
