Purpose of Job

  • Execute and coordinate end-to-end intracompany marine imports of packaged goods to Sasol Americas sites, ensuring timely delivery, accurate documentation, issue resolution, and compliance with regulatory requirements and service agreements. Collaborate with global teams and logistics partners, monitor import activity and spend, and support process optimization and digitization efforts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Execute and coordinate end-to-end import process: purchase orders, marine bookings, shipment tracking, and goods receipt.
  • Coordinate with Sasol global offices, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and terminals to ensure timely and accurate documentation and shipping execution.
  • Update SAP with shipping, arrival, and inbound receipt data; ensure accurate reporting of order status (planned, in transit, received). Provide updates during monthly meetings.
  • Verify and approve logistics and customs-related documents and invoices; resolve any identified discrepancies with Sasol Accounts Payable team and vendors.
  • Support month-end closing and order reconciliation in SAP.
  • Liaise with forwarders, marine import transportation partners and third-party service companies to ensure they follow operating guidelines and meet established performance standards. Ensure shipments are executed per the negotiated terms/rates of the purchase order and related services agreements.
  • Provide after-hours/weekend support as needed; cross-train and back up team members.
  • Act promptly to address and record non-conformances, take appropriate actions to prevent/mitigate the effects and implement corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Digitization enablement by helping support establishing and maintaining Explant/Terminal Import activity dashboard to track and trend import activities and spend associated to enable optimization.

Formal Education/ Working Experience

  • High School Diploma with 4 years experience of supply chain experience or
  • University Bachelor Degree with 3+ years of Supply chain experience
  • 1+ years of industry related experience in shipping and transportation
  • Experience in supply chain, procurement, export / import, or customer service
  • Broad knowledge of shipping operations, products, and information systems

Required Personal/ Professional Skills

  • Ability to interact professionally and liaise with Customer Service, Commercial, IPL, Plant/Explant personnels, SHE, Accounting, Finance, Freight Forwarders, Marine and related Carriers, Purchasing, Vendors, IM team and Sasol affiliates
  • Must have strong/professional communication, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in SAP
  • International shipping
  • Some customs regulations knowledge (but not required)
  • Some Accountings knowledge and experience with VIMS (but not required)
  • Good software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power BI etc.)
