Purpose of Job
- Manage/optimize production planning of Packaged goods at Explant and Terminal locations for Sasol Americas.
- Manage all domestic Stock Transport Orders (STO).
- Ensure accurate inventory management across all Explant and Terminal locations through reconciliations and inventory adjustments.
- Enable production/storage optimization, provide critical support for digitization initiatives, and ensures SOX/audit compliance.
Key Accountabilities
•Packaged Good Production and STO Management: oCoordinate with Commercial, IPL, and Terminal/Ex-Plant Operations to forecast packaged inventory production. Conduct strategic analysis to plan and recommend optimal production locations for packaged goods, ensuring alignment with cost efficiencies, scheduling requirements, and inventory demands. oManage and coordinate the scheduling of STO movement/raw material movements with strategic oversight and attention to details, ensuring seamless production continuity while proactively addressing and mitigating any potential overtime charges, late fees and avoiding no-show fees. oManage reorder points and quantities for raw materials and packaging supplies to maintain minimum acceptable inventory levels, ensuring cost-effectiveness while preventing operational delays through alignment with forecasts and demand projections. •Inventory Utilization, Reconciliation, and Adjustment: oEnsure timely and accurate reconciliation reports, with a target submission no later than 15th day of each month while maintaining adherence to SOX compliance deadlines and regulatory requirements for audit purposes. Maintain records on designated platforms (e.g., Livelink, SAP). oLiaise with Explant and Terminals personnel to investigate and provide detailed report on any discrepancies, gains and losses identified in monthly inventory report. oIssue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for significant discrepancies, ensuring appropriate personnel are engaged to investigate the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence oExecute inventory adjustments as needed. •Explant/Terminal Production/Storage Cost Optimization: oConduct comprehensive tracking, trending, and analysis of monthly reconciliations to identify static inventory. Communicate findings to the IPL team and key stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making to enable optimized storage utilization. Manage the disposals of identified and approved inventory. oMinimize partial inventory at production sites by collaborating with the IPL team and facilitating either the reintegration of material into usable inventory or determining appropriate disposal or alternative resolutions on a regular cadence, thereby reducing storage-related costs. oRecord and assess overtime requests, no show and late fees at production facilities to determine justification of the charges. Enable the applied fee recovery process from third party carriers if applicable. •Explant/Terminal Activity Reporting and Digitization Enablement: oProvide daily and monthly reports, to ensure visibility of inbound/outbound STO shipments. Facilitate communication with Sasol Customer Service and Rail/Truck Logistics teams. oAnalyze gains/losses from inventory reconciliation, identify scheduling or reporting issues, and provide detailed inputs for monthly/quarterly meetings with Explant/Terminals. oSupport the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Explant/Terminal activity dashboard to enhance operational visibility and performance monitoring-Tracking and trending Explant/Terminal activities, tank utilization, inventory gains/loss, and lease tank optimization support. oEnable digitization of processes to improve inventory visibility and operational efficiency including support in implementation and optimization of Strive.
Formal Education
University Bachelors Degree
Working Experience
- 5+ years inventory management/reconciliations, supply chain operations, logistics or related fields.
- Proficient in SAP including all major modules and reporting tools
- Knowledge of operational digitization and information systems
Required Personal/Professional Skills
- Ability to interact professionally and liaise with Customer Service, Commercial, IPL, Plant/Explant personnels, Carriers, IM team and Sasol affiliates
- Must have strong/professional communication, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and organizational skills
- Strong ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and detect patterns or inconsistencies in financial and inventory records.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in SAP
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
- Good software skills (Word, Outlook, Power BI etc.)
