Purpose of Job

Support the Snr. Manager Marketing Global Surfactants by working to continuously drive and optimize the product portfolio and define products/markets strategies to maximize margin and increase the profitability of the assets. Works closely with IPL, R&D, Finance and other S&M groups to align asset-to-asset integration and global business strategies and initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for marketing efforts related to US surfactants, including guidance of sales initiatives within the specified region (Americas). • Develop quarterly, ad hoc and contract renewal pricing guidelines for US surfactants, ensuring regional and global strategic alignment including overall supply/demand markets status and foreseeable outlook • Provides regular, detailed and structured reports to upper management that comprehensively describes business results, goals, and conclusions for all projects. • Gather and consolidate market information from Sales Managers and Business Intelligence into specific strategies and marketing initiatives and reports • Continuous feedback review (pricing implementation, volume review, corrective actions) • Define together with Sales specific customer/product strategy/approach • Define measurement of key performance indicators per product line/market • Provide directional inputs and strategic fit for Pre-Negotiation Documents • Coordinate and integrate business cases for projects and initiatives • Coordinate, cross-functional interactions and lead initiatives for future growth and development • Provide guidance for specific customer projects/initiatives (supply chains, stocks, new products) • Interact and lead initiatives with R&D, Planning and Customer Fulfillment • Crisis management – Allocations, FM, supply chain disruptions managements, SWAPs • Participate in the development of annual sales budget and the 5-year plan • Support Snr Mngr. Marketing with global initiatives and projects (segmentation, portfolio optimization, products sales initiatives) • Ensure governance and adherence to policies and laws in all actions.

Formal Education

  • University Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Business or Marketing

Working Experience

  • 10+ years of commercial experience in the chemical industry

Required Personal/Professional Skills

  • Commercial and technical background
  • Ability to proactively work in a team, understanding tasks and roles in a global structured function
  • Industry specific knowledge (products, applications, customers, KBFs, and competitors)
  • Excellent analytical and communicational skills
  • Thorough communication, relationship building and selling skills (e.g. interacting with Sales managers, Snr. Managers, customers, selling the message, negotiating winning solutions, building trust and partnerships and decisions)
  • Tactical and operational thinking for reaching targets
  • Customer- and solution-oriented personality (e.g. self-motivation, delivering high quality solutions and services, demonstrating flexibility)
  • User skills for IT modules corresponding to Sales tasks (Market Research, CRM, Pricing, Sales, Forecasting, Help & Information, MS Office)
  • Willingness to travel and to customer/exhibitions/conferences in the region
