Purpose of Job

The Payroll Specialist is experienced in US payroll processing using SAP/ECP for a multistate, global organization.  The position will be responsible for US federal, and multi-state payroll, tax preparation and filing.  Expectations include engaging with and managing external and internal customer relationships in order to facilitate accurate and compliant payroll across all functions.  The position be responsible for responding to employee payroll inquiries within established SLA’s.  Must have in-depth understanding of accounting principles; including general ledger with aptitude to interpret and review liability/expense accounts and execute financial reporting. The job requires analytical skills and ability to work with a diverse group of employees.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for resolution of payroll inquiries from all levels within the organization • Collaborates with consultants, vendors, managers, Human Resources, Finance, Corp Tax, Total Rewards, Benefits, Treasury, Legal and etc. • Leads processing and resolution of employee’s time records in Workforce time system • Complies with garnishment orders • Monitors executive payroll • Off cycle Payrolls • Processes payroll results adjustment entries within SAP (221’s) • Works directly with South Africa and US stock administration teams for stock processing • Applies foreign tax credits, global earnings, and exchange rates • Analyzes G/L and vendor accounts to reconcile payroll, tax, and benefit expenses • Completes monthly reconciliations of General Ledger • Responds to all financial reporting requests • Complies with Sarbanes Oxley • Responsible for timely tax compliance: withholding and quarterly tax filings • Remits and reconciles tax deposits and liabilities on biweekly, monthly, quarterly basis • Works with IM to ensure accuracy and timely application of tax changes, SAP configuration changes, HR Service Pack and BSI updates • Manages set up of tax accounts with state and local governments • Independently investigates and responds to tax notices, interacting with tax authorities on Sasol’s behalf • Participates in year-end activities and filing of US W2’s • Execute Work Comp Audit reports • Ad-hoc reporting • Document work instructions, processes, and procedures • All other duties and special projects as assigned by manager

Formal Education

  • High School / School Diploma or similar with 6+ years' of advanced SAP payroll processing experience or
  • University Bachelors Degree in Business or Finance with 3+ years' of advanced SAP payroll processing experience

Working Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in multi-state payroll compliance
  • 3+ years’ SAP Payroll and Transactions Processing
  • 3+ years' of payroll time administration in Workforce

Required Personal/Professional Skills

  • Proficiency in SAP/ECP Payroll Processing
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • SAP Reporting
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Team player
  • 10% Travel required
