Purpose of Job

  • Grow sales and profitability of alcohols, alkylates, and surfactants into the Technical Formulations markets in North America by developing and implementing sales strategies, executing marketing plans and strengthening customer relationship through leading a team of Sales Managers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Formulate and execute effective sales strategies to deliver and exceed profitability targets for Technical Formulations in North America
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the own sales team, peers and the whole organization
  • Lead, manage, mentor, and inspire a team of sales professionals to achieve individual and collectiv sales and profitability goals
  • Focus on profitable markets and applications maximizing the value for all Sasol’s IC product lines, as defined on Technical Formulations Strategy, implementing Marketing Plans on the sales side as required
  • Identify market trends and materialize new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and providing solutions with value for the customer and for Sasol
  • Support Sales Managers at relevant contract negotiations and solution of complex issues
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts through the team and regular reports to senior management, highlighting key performance metrics and action plans for improvement
  • Utilize data analytics and market information to identify trends and opportunities for profitability optimization

Formal Education

  • University Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, Marketing or Business

Working Experience

  • 15+ years experience in the chemical Industry or related industry
  • Strong Experience in Marketing and Sales and/or customer interaction

Required Personal/Professional Skills

  • Demonstrated managerial and commercial experience
  • Strong business acumen with good analytical skills
  • Innovative, bold decision taker with strategic and value-driven mindset
  • Strong leadership skills with a high energy level, capable of driving change and improving performance
  • Absolutely results driven, capable of meeting and exceeding targets through own team and working together with peers and others, internal or external to the company
  • Understanding of chemical business landscape, knowing Sasol's alcohol, alkylates and surfactants businesses desirable
  • Experience and track record of driving commercial excellence through CRM will be a plus
