Purpose of Job

  • The Senior Transfer Pricing Specialist serves as the primary contact for all tax-related transfer pricing matters within Sasol’s International Chemicals organization, including design and oversight of the transfer pricing policy, review and maintenance of documentation, monitoring and application of legislative developments and regulatory changes, and defense of the company’s positions in audits by the tax authorities.
  • The global role focuses on guiding the pricing of intragroup transactions (including the purchase of goods and services, licensing of intangibles, and financing arrangements), supporting stakeholders on transfer pricing policies and procedures, managing documentation, and assisting with related international tax issues. 
  • The Senior Transfer Pricing Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external service providers to ensure alignment on transfer pricing matters from a tax perspective.  

Key Accountabilities

• Coordinate US and Eurasia tax transfer pricing studies with external service providers (including review of functional analysis, provision of financial data for economic analysis, assistance with queries, detailed review of documentation, computation of tax return adjustments, etc.) • Prepare transfer pricing documentation for German entities for external review • Align on benchmarking studies • Maintain and manage all intercompany contracts and agreements to support transfer pricing positions and ensure regulatory alignment • Maintain the transfer pricing policy • Participate as a member of the transfer pricing committee and actively analyze and manage transfer pricing policy exception requests • Collaborate with the Controlling team on reconciliations • Provide governance and support regarding cost pool allocations and documentation • Develop internal controls to confirm accurate transfer prices and adherence to policies • Respond to inquiries and defend transfer pricing topics in audits by the various tax authorities • Review and contribute to the Master File and country-by-country reports prepared by parent company Tax team • Review and collaborate with the Human Resources team regarding secondments and related documentation • Review and collaborate with the Treasury team regarding transfer pricing and documentation of intragroup financial transactions (including insurance, guarantees, long and short-term borrowings, etc.) • Monitor and implement impacts of legislative and regulatory developments in relevant jurisdictions/OECD • Provide training for sales managers and other cross-functional internal teams on transfer pricing matters • Assist with other withholding tax, income tax, and/or indirect tax projects

Formal Education

  • University Bachelors Degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field

Working Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in an international tax consulting firm or within the tax function of a multinational company with a focus on transfer pricing

Required Personal/Professional Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of international transfer pricing regulations and practices
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a hands-on, detail-oriented capacity

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects in order to meet deadlines and deliver accurate results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in an international environment across time zones, including some international travel
