Purpose of Job

A Driver is responsible for the safe transportation and timeous delivery of persons, packages and/or product.

Key Accountabilities

  • Know and correctly use the safety equipment on the vehicle and following correct safety procedures. This includes, amongst others, communication devices, recovery equipment and tire repair and/or replacement equipment
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures
  • Basic knowledge of the use of a first aid kit
  • Ability to correctly use PPE required for the job and/or task
  • Ability to identify, report and correct vehicle damage and deviation from standard, including, amongst others, identification and knowledge of warning lights, unordinary engine noise, misaligned and/or unbalanced tyres and cracked windscreens
  • Perform daily checks to ensure vehicle is constantly in a road worthy condition as per the approved GSO Journey Management Plan checklist and record / report defects accordingly
  • First line vehicle maintenance, e.g. refuelling, tires pressure, oil level top up, fluid level checks, windscreen wash water top-up etc.
  • Report any deviations from schedule, sample availability
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and/or situations and take precautionary measures
  • Provide adequate feedback to manager as per reporting requirements
  • Follow instructions according to job requirements
  • Planning of own activities, including planning of optimal route for multiple stop points
  • Support the goals and vision of the business by meeting deadlines
  • Assist natural work team in daily activities
  • Compliance to government charters / legal frameworks
  • Daily activities executed according to plan
  • Comply to site operational and or project execution requirements and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to all rules and regulations, including the GSO Journey Management Plan
  • Ensuring the Sasol Defensive Driving certification is valid
  • Respect of time – drivers shall strictly adhere to required collection and delivery times as per manager instruction
  • Drivers should be presentable and professional in all instances
  • Effective relationships with customers, colleagues and management
  • Attend training courses and seminars as per training matrix to improve competency and skills
  • Identifies personal training and development needs and incorporate into personal development plan with manager’s approval
  • Serve as liaison between SPM and SPT vehicle fleet management for services coordination
  • Courier items for the PMT to and from various project sites

Formal Education

  • High School / School Diploma or similar
  • Intermediate level of English language proficiency

Working Experience

  • Min. 3 years’ experience as a driver of personnel
  • Fleet management experience (wish)
  • SAP experience on notifications, work orders, Purchase Requisition and Service Entry Sheets (wish)
  • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is preferred

Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Professional Drivers Permit
