Purpose of Job

Respond promptly to emergency situations within the operation and projects areas including well pads, flowlines, trunkline, and associated infrastructures and equipment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Respond to fire alarms within Sasol facility; lay and connect hose; maintain pumping apparatus; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders; ventilate burning structures; enter buildings to evacuate occupants;
  • Search and rescue affected personnel in the fire area;
  • Operate all types of fire operation and rescue equipment including portable fire extinguishers, pike poles, hand lines, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, and emergency medical equipment;
  • Respond to emergency medical incidents such as auto accidents, gas system leaks and animals in distress and administer first-aid preserve evidence at fire scenes;
  • Drive emergency vehicle to incident scene safely;
  • Inspect firefighting equipment (e.g., foam units, fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, etc.) and vehicles;
  • Maintain and refill Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus;
  • Take safety precautions in emergencies by prioritizing personal safety and team safety;
  • Develop rescue plans for execution of various tasks;
  • Conduct standbys and perform rescue activities on critical tasks;
  • Report the results of callouts attended accurately;
  • Implement Sasol Group's risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework;
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders to raise awareness and reduce damages resulting from fires;
  • Continuously improve own skills and knowledge;
  • Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals.

Formal Education

High School / School Diploma or similar

Working Experience

Experience: 3+ relevant years
