Purpose of Job

An Artisan supports production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures / codes and utilizing all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Have proven competence in pre-identified areas per discipline of the plant/equipment/systems.
  • Understand and able to use the plant maintenance documentation system.
  • Understand Planning Work Management System (SAP).
  • Comply with Safety Management Systems e.g. Information Management System (IMS), Management by Objectives (MBO), etc. 
  • Adhere to SHE KPI reporting (stop cards, BBS and field verifications).
  • Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessment.
  • Acquainted with hazard identification / task risk assessments. 
  • Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments.
  • Support the goals and vision of the business by meeting deadlines. 
  • Follow up on assigned tasks and provide daily feedback to supervisor on the work progress.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and provides feedback to RCA teams. 
  • Participate in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements to improve safety. 
  • Maintain good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures.
  • Participate in quarterly performance appraisal with group leader to improve personal development.
  • Identify personal training and development needs and incorporates into PDP with group Supervisor’s approval.
  • Assist with the development of works instructions to develop a higher level of execution efficiency.
  • Able to act as a group leader (if appropriate to career path).
  • Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and direction.
  • Conduct My IMS (physical inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability). Report the findings into SAP for planned maintenance.
  • Attend and interact in PDAs, RCAs, MOCs to improve plant safety and stability.
  • Provide adequate feedback to the Supervisor or planning officer on work progress.
  • Ensure the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals / upgrades and critical spares are replaced.
  • Provide input at “toolbox talks” to improve plant safety.

Formal Education

  • Industrial Institute National Diploma in Mechanical studies (Diploma do Instituto Industrial em Mecânica) . 
  • NQF Level 4 Occupational / Vocational  

Working Experience

1 - 3 Years relevant mechanical experience
