Purpose of job
Support in the delivery, commissioning and start-up of production, providing effective support to ensure equipment maintenance, operability and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, using all available support resources to ensure plant stability and sustainability.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on company’s electrical systems.
- Interpret Electrical drawings, Schematics, Conduct Advanced Fault finding, troubleshooting on Electrical systems, Fault repair and commissioning of the company's electrical equipment.
- Identify failure modes and proactively recommend improvement actions.
- Execute Plant shutdown and maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
- Conduct technical investigations, failure analysis and factory inspections.
- Participate with ideas for changes to improve the factory.
- Proven competence in pre-identified areas by factory/equipment/systems discipline (proven application of training to artisan degree).
- Understand and use the factory maintenance documentation system.
- Understand the planning work management system.
- Identify recurring failures and recommend improvement actions.
- Relevant knowledge regarding specific / basic factory processes (defined by modality).
- Able to apply emergency procedures.
- Able to identify hazards and perform risk assessment.
- Follow Hygiene and Safety at Work procedures.
- Participate in daily morning meetings.
- Support the business's objectives and vision, meeting deadlines.
- Provide adequate information to the supervisor about the progress of the work.
- Participate in root cause analysis of failures (RCA) and contribute to their correction.
- Lead small maintenance teams when required.
- Coordinate maintenance activities and provide technical guidance.
- Able to work independently.
- Share knowledge with junior artisans in familiar environments / contexts.
- Participate in the quarterly performance review with the group leader to enhance personal development.
- Identify personal training and development needs and incorporate into the personal development plan (PDP) with group leader approval.
- Ensuring that the correct historical information is captured to improve renovations / upgrades and that essential spare parts are replaced.
- Perform advanced electrical fault finding, electrical drawing and schematics Interpretation, switchgear maintenance and fault finding, transformer maintenance and diagnostics, motor, protection systems, VSD and UPS maintenance and troubleshooting.
Formal Education
Industrial Institute National Diploma in Electrical studies or NQF Level 4 Occupational / Vocational
Working Experience
Betwenn 3 and 5 years of experience
