Purpose of Job

Key Accountabilities

•    To develop and improve Standard Engineering Design Templates / documents; 
•    To lead the team in assessing and finding the best equipment combination for the desired production throughput (nomination);
•    To apply in depth knowledge in the installation of new or old Process Equipment/Devices to respond to equipment functionality and business requirements; 
•    To apply enhanced practical and meaningful steps in Process problem-solving methodology and lead the Process team members and other stakeholders in critical troubleshooting sessions; 
•    Good understanding and interpretation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s); Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID’s); Isometric drawings;
•    Perform RAM study and connect operational and maintenance strategy.To interpret and translate real business requirements into Process engineering strategies and new implemented solutions, responding to production/ business objectives and targets;
•    Look ahead and provide short term, intermediate and long-term Process solutions, according to business needs;

•    Develop/ reviews production dashboard, ensure critical parameters are incorporated, trains operations teams, follow-up the implementation/ operations, detect deviation, produce corrective, preventative, predictive actions and implement them;
•    Design/ leads the team to find the best equipment combination for the desired production (nomination);
•    Performs the entire plant mass / energy balance detect deviations, activate mechanisms to correct deviations and report;
•    Ensure cost optimisation through feasible designs; 
•    Manage and improve on documentation standard for designs; 
•    Encourage innovation in design for equipment selection;
•    Establish/implement quality control and consistency of design/delivery;
•    Align with the peers/groups on best Eng. Practices;
•    Play process engineering role on larger capital projects executed;
•    Interpret and translate business requirements into a process engineering strategy to enable OME (Operating Model Entity) to safely meet production targets;
•    Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation;
•    Report on budget utilisation, forecasting and changes;
•    Follow principles of Management Of Changes (MOC) in all involved projects;
•    Participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies;
•    Oversee the management of external service providers;
•    Maintain healthy and stable relationships with contractors and consultants;
•    Oversee the safety of external service providers;
•    Display influencing, negotiating, maturity and emotional intelligence;
•    Operate successfully in a diverse (culture, roles, positions, and levels, etc.) work environment;
•    Comply with all Sasol SHE requirements

Formal Education

University Bachelors Degree in Engineering

Working Experience

Experience: 8+ relevant years in Operations Management
