Purpose of Job

Supports handover, commissioning and start-up and onto production by providing effective support to ensure equipment maintainability, operability and reliability while adhering to procedures / codes, and utilizing all available support resources to ensure stability and sustainability of the plant.

Key Accountabilities

  • Involved in instrumentation system punch outs and fault finding on pneumatic and electronic instrument loops;
  • Conduct technical investigations, failure analyses and plant inspections;
  • Proven competence in pre-identified areas per discipline of the plant/equipment/systems (proven application of training for artisan grade;
  • Understand and use the plant maintenance documentation system, the planning work management system and the relevant plant specific/basic process knowledge (defined per discipline); 
  • Compliance of Safety Management Systems e.g. IMS, MBO, etc.
  • Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessment and hazard identification/task risk assessments;
  • Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments, in root cause analyses, providing feedback to RCA teams and in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements to improve safety;
  • Participates in quarterly performance appraisal with team leader to improve personal development and identify personal training and development needs, and incorporates into PDP with group leader's approval;
  • Assists with the development of works instructions to develop a higher level of staff competency and take the lead in team efforts/tasks;
  • Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and direction;
  • Conducts My IMS (physical inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability);
  • Attends and interacts in PDAs and RCAs to improve plant safety and stability;
  • Provides adequate feedback to group leader or planning officer on work progress;
  • Ensures the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals/ upgrades and critical spares are replaced;
  • Gives input at “toolbox talks” to improve plant safety.

Formal Education

High School / School Diploma or similar

Working Experience

Experience: 3+ relevant years in Electronics or Instrumentation
