Purpose of Job
• To utilise authoritative levels of experience in Reliability Engineering for managing and / or executing complex and/or specialised design, engineering, development, repair and/ or modification of Reliability systems, tools, equipment and devices;
• To apply Asset Management Principles to enable the safe and cost-effective utilisation of assets throughout their life cycle;
• To coach and guide fellow team members, including Maintenance, Reliability Engineers, and Production personnel in the proper use of Reliability tools and methodologies (RCM, FMEA, FMECA, RCA, etc) to ensure that systems, processes equipment and products perform reliably, predictably and for the intended durations by identifying potential failures, improving the designs and optimizing maintenance and organizational culture;
• To perform technical assessment of any improvement projects / ideas raised, for smooth and value-adding implementation;
• Focuses on current and future asset performance improvement opportunities to ensure that optimization of equipment performance and Reliability takes place successfully;
• Liaises with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and OPMs (Original Parts Manufacturers) and other business stakeholders in discussions of technical and operational matters involving equipment and devices upgrades, installation and use to achieve desired equipment functionality, operability, Reliability and Integrity.
Key Accountabilities
• Take ownership of and have authority over all Reliability assets/ plant Reliability matters;
• To use/ facilitate RCM, FMEA, FMECA, RCA, Maintenance Strategies development, review, focusing on improved effectiveness and efficiency;
• To measure and analyse equipment performance and be able to derive conclusions and improvement actions;
• To implement / to follow up equipment improvement actions;
• To apply in depth knowledge to assess reliable systems, tools, equipment and devices to respond to process / business goals;
• To apply enhanced practical and meaningful steps in Reliability problem-solving methodology and lead the Reliability team members and other stakeholders in critical troubleshooting sessions;
• To interpret and translate real business requirements into Reliability engineering strategies and new implemented solutions, responding to production / business objectives and targets;
• Look ahead and provide short term, intermediate and long-term Reliability solutions, according to business needs;
• Perform inherent risk analysis on equipment through conversion from RBI or other facilitated sessions;
• Deviation Management (DM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) inclusive of quality reporting of the outcomes and health of the management system;
• Reliability Performance Tools & Techniques (RPTT) relating to or integrated with SAP tools, functionality and sources of data to be used in failure and reliability analysis and reporting of equipment bad actors;
• Identify improvement opportunities that will help ensure that reliability engineering processes are effective and efficient and relate to the asset management model;
• Be the custodian of reliability business processes, procedures, work instructions and practices;
• Help to ensure that processes governed by reliability engineering are understood by all role players in the relevant operating department;
• Support the relevant personnel in the operations departments to obtain the necessary competence in reliability practices through training, facilitation, and coaching;
• Play an important role in the prioritisation of improvement activities and projects for the business in view of Total Effective Equipment Performance.
