Purpose of Job
Specialist Contracting position will be based in Sasol Temane. The Contract Specialist will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and administering long term contracts and agreements for goods and services between the organization and external parties. This role ensures that all contracts comply with legal requirements, align with company policies, and minimize risk while supporting business objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Draft and review contractual agreements between a company and suppliers of goods or services.
- Prepare tender package documents, Issue invitation to tender, evaluate bids prepare and review contracts, negotiate terms, and issue a contract to successful bidders
- Resolve contract disputes with the supplier or contract end users.
- Review contract terms and conditions to balance risk appetite with commercial objectives. Communicate with vendors and ensure that contracts meet all regulatory requirements.
- Work with the legal department and directly with vendors to help draft, edit, and process legal contracts as needed.
- Receive procurement requests for high/medium risk goods and services to initiate the procurement process.
- Track procurement activities and maintain compliance with conditions and sections of contracts.
- Verify all submitted bids according to submission instructions. Contribute to the negotiation of terms and prices and seek management approval.
- Administer contracting activities in adherence to Sasol policies and legal requirements.
- Develop well-defined and clearly described contracts to maximise cost savings, improve service levels, and mitigate contractual risks.
- Check and confirm that contracts are written with fully understandable terms.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable the achievement of successful complex procurements.
- Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals
- Work on achieving savings by conducting negotiations with suppliers without any supervision
- Processing and tracking purchase orders
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of contracting skills and steps
- Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate
- Researching the market for goods/services
- Determining which products or brands to buy
- Price comparison and deal creation
- Able to use SAP system or any other related systems
- Proficient in English/Portuguese
- Analytical mindset, commercial awareness,
- Excellent communication, and ability to work under pressure
Formal Education
Appropriate B Degree (Commercial or Legal) or equivalent
Working Experience
At least 6 years’ experience in procurement and contracting
