Purpose of Job
To provide specialist and broad technical and process service support to customers by enabling them to convert Sasol’s polymers efficiently and cost-effectively to achieve short and long term profitability for the business.
Key Accountabilities
- Implement advanced technical aspects of M&S product strategy at customers, e.g. grade rationalization, grade improvements, new grades, etc.
- Ensure that the objectives of technical service are consistently met and meet customer requirements.
- Identify, interpret and communicate customer technical needs and requirements to M&S team as well as to other stakeholders, e.g. operating hubs, supply chain, etc.
- Provide specialist technical and process support to customers on the use of Sasol’s polymer grades and benefits thereof.
- Investigate and resolve process and product related customer complaints decisively and objectively.
- Identify process, quality or efficiency problems, initiate tests, interpret results, draw conclusions and make recommendations to assist customers to convert Sasol’s polymer materials successfully.
- Identify opportunities for significantly optimizing customers' processes and improving manufacturing efficiencies.
- Deliver expert solutions to meet changing business and customer requirements.
- Stay abreast of sustainability and legislative trends to advise value chain stakeholders on the impact of these on product specifications and applications.
- Leverage knowledge of customer process and application requirements to contribute to quality decisions and drawing of product specifications at operating hubs.
- Liaise with value chain stakeholder, including Sasol’s polymer plants, R&D function, product stewardship and plant support to address complaints, requests, queries and service requirements.
- Participate in relevant product development forums and liaise with external institutions to stay abreast of new developments in manufacturing technologies and product quality standards.
- Initiate, share and implement new ideas to improve product performance and value-add to customers.
Formal Education
- University Bachelor’s Degree (preference to post graduate qualifications in Polymer Science or Chemistry)

- 6+ relevant years
