Manager Technical & Site Services

Purpose of Job

Lead and manage the Discipline Engineering team in delivering expert technical support across the Americas, ensuring alignment with company strategy, compliance with engineering and SHE standards, and continuous improvement in team capability, performance, and productivity.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy/Policy/Values

• Ensure alignment with Company Strategy, Goals, and Values across functional areas of responsibility.
• Ensure teams understand and adhere to corporate SHE policies, governance, legislative requirements, and any other statutory requirements.

People

• Set competency criteria for team members in functional areas of responsibility.
• Support personnel training and development needed to ensure competencies are developed and/or maintained.
• Manage recruiting, team performance, and succession planning to achieve sustainable provision of subject matter expert technical support to the Americas Region.
• Ensure effective and appropriate resourcing across team members to achieve maximum effectiveness in executing day-to-day activities.

Productivity

• Develop and implement optimized engineering/design/document control workflows and processes / procedures that drive productivity and team / department effectiveness.
• Manage the use of critical engineering, design, and document management tools / software.

Technical

• Provide discipline specific engineering, technical support, and design services for the execution of capital projects, maintenance expense / replacement projects, and turnarounds.
• Provide subject matter expertise across multiple engineering disciplines for the region.
• Engineering oversight and Quality Assurance support for the Engineering and Design Services Teams.
• Maintain Company Engineering Standards / Specifications for the region.
• Manage engineering standard / specification interpretation and concessions / deviations for the region.
• Knowledge management of lessons learned including best practices.
• Document management (DMS & KSNA) support for the Americas Region.

Formal Education

• Minimum B.S. in Engineering.
• Advanced Engineering degree and/or MBA is a plus.
• Professional engineering license preferred.

Working Experience

• Minimum of 15 years of practical engineering and managerial experience
• Extensive experience managing projects and executing engineering design in PSM regulated petrochemical or refining industries

Required Personal and Professional Skills

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication abilities with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel and stakeholders at different levels of engineering, design, maintenance, operations, and management as well as corporate or global stakeholders.
• Multi-disciplinary understanding of engineering activities in both capital project execution and operating facilities support.
• Multi-disciplinary understanding of engineering services and their overall role in support of capital projects, plant optimization / support, technology licensing, etc.
• Knowledge of stage gate project development and execution processes.
• Knowledge of SAP system or similar enterprise accounting system.
