Purpose of Job

  • Ensure successful adoption of process improvements and organizational changes applying a structured Operational Excellence methodology.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement activities and ensure engagement across the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Mentor and coach employees on OE principles and tools
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops on OE methodologies and continuous improvement
  • Conduct process mapping, value stream analysis and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities
  • Promote a culture of problem solving and data driven decision making within the organization
  • Collect and analyze data on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to efficiency, quality, safety and cost as required by projects
  • Support during root cause analysis to identify underlying issues affecting performance
  • Support the development of best practices of fundamental elements and processes at the sites in the United States
  • Applies tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the required changes by the OE initiative
  • Maintain a ONE SASOL mindset. Collaborates effectively with other functions in IC, broader SASOL and external specialized forums

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science

Working Experience

  • 5+ years of industrial experience in Chemical Processes
  • Previous experience in business process development and implementation

Required Personal and Professional Skills

  • Capability to handle a large work volume and develop a wide breadth of knowledge to operate effectively in all areas of responsibility 
  • Knowledge of management systems related to Operations, SHE, technical services and Maintenance
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of business acumen with continuous improvement as a priority
  • Management style must include values driven leadership, cultural sensitivity, strong business acumen, team focused, networking and relationship building ability, and capable of blending innovative ideas with practical solutions
  • Some travel may be required
