Purpose of Job

  • Support Quality Control Laboratory in providing accurate & precise results to both internal & external stakeholders

Key Accountabilities

Assure areas of responsibility adhere to safety & environmental protocols for the laboratory & site Competent regarding key instrumentation and standard techniques commonly used in the assigned area, and reliably executes more complex procedures.  Manage, optimize, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory procedures and instrumentation. Resolve instrument non-conformances. Ensure accurate and timely completion of analytical testing. Generates ideas to address the priorities of the QC group. Handles problems of moderate complexity in multiple areas. Critically evaluates analytical results, and participates in the interpretation of those results when needed. Write new laboratory test procedures, update existing procedures, and train analysts as needed. Set-up & qualify new equipment per QC Laboratory protocols Understands technical requirements and recommends QC objectives, defines what is needed in terms of equipment, etc. and sets appropriate goals with Manager and Chemist team to meet technical needs. Evaluate laboratory equipment needs & advise QC Manager of capital expenditure needs Ensure East Plant Laboratory conforms to ISO-9001 and RC-14001 requirements. Work independently or Collaborates with R&D and Engineering to help resolve plant issues and handle special requests. Interface with customers, plant and ex-plant operations, customer service and Sales & marketing to resolve customer quality issues. Develops and maintains relationships within research group to effectively meet technical goals. Make changes and additions to the LIMS data system as necessary

Formal Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience 

Working Experience

  • 5 years of laboratory experience

Required Personal and Professional Skills

  • Ability to define, and implement ideas and solutions
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train on technical methods
  • Ability to define, and implement ideas and solutions
  • Strong mathematical/laboratory skills
  • Computer competency including knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office and other required software
  • Good oral and written communications skills
