Purpose of Job

  • Leads technical/engineering/projects/turnaround function within the US
  • Provides technical leadership or support to ensure all producing assets are capable of meeting all SHE requirements, are competitively efficient, and are reliable
  • Manages capital projects within the platform
  • Supports Operations to ensure plants are efficiently and effectively operated.
  • Focused on effectiveness and efficiency of function
  • Function is the primary technical problem solver within the Americas producing assets

Key Accountabilities

Portfolio responsible for:

  • Process Support for all producing assets
  • Process Control and Automation
  • Engineering
  • Reliability
  • Turnarounds
  • Capital projects, budget, and portfolio management within US
  • Expense project management for those projects managed by this function
  • Responsible to drive technical profit improvement initiatives, sharing of best practices, and benchmarking studies
  • Accountable for compliance to capital project governance processes and the governance/compliance with engineering and construction standards, as required
  • Develops talent to serve both the Technical Services function as well as the talent pipeline for other functions within Sasol

Formal Education

  • University Bachelors Degree in Engineering

Working Experience

Experience: 10+ relevant years

Required Personal and Professional Skills

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Project development and execution experience
  • Extensive experience in the Maintenance of chemical plants
  • Chemical industry experience (products, applications, processes)
  • Fluent English (written & spoken) and very good communication skills
  • good IT skills (MS-Office, SAP etc.)
  • Excellent Safety Management experience
  • Process Safety knowledge
