Purpose of Job

  • Provide front line leadership for their team to facilitate efficient plant operation while maintaining safety, environmental, and procedural compliance.

Key Accountabilities

· Supervises all aspects of manufacturing operations (first level supervisor)

· Responds to safety and environmental incidents and serve as incident commander until relieved

· Monitors and adjusts plant operating conditions in a manner that allows for safe, efficient and environmentally sound operations

· Provides assistance and direction to their shift to allow for effective plant operation and problem resolution

· Coordinates activities between the Operations and Mechanical Departments during off-hours

· Conducts Safety Meetings for their team when on shift

· Investigates and documents safety, environmental, and quality incidents per procedure and reports findings to the appropriate personnel

· Develops and trains personnel on respective shifts

· Assumes duties of Operations Superintendent, Process Support Specialist, Gatekeeper or Unit Manager when assigned

· Ensures all applicable reviews and associated documentation for management systems, Unit Operating Procedures, and SHE Procedures is completed for their respective shift

· Directs and is responsible for the activities on their shift (3-12 employees)

· Orders operating supplies up to $50,000 per purchase requisition

· Notifies governmental regulatory agencies when reportable environmental incidents occur

· Directs the activities of various contractors in the unit (Vacuum trucks, chemical cleaning, etc.)

· Ensures compliance with company procedures and government regulations

· Responsible for maintaining fixed and variable cost within budget

Formal Education

· High School Diploma, GED or higher

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Not required)

Working Experience

· 5+ years extensive industrial experience in an operating unit

· Unit experience/knowledge 

Required Personal and Professional Skills

· Good computer skills: SAP, DMS

· Good interpersonal skills

· Must be able to manage a broad workload and respond appropriately to crisis situations
