Purpose of Job

The primary purpose of the Site Manager Lake Charles Surfactants & Inorganics is to oversee operational performance and activities within the Lake Charles Surfactants & Inorganics assets as well as site Quality Control Laboratories. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Member of the Lake Charles Chemical Complex site leadership team and supports the US Operations organization to meet strategic objectives.
  • Responsible for overall operational performance of Lake Charles Surfactants & Inorganics units (Normal Paraffin, Solvent, Ethoxylation, Alcohol and Alumina) and site Quality Control laboratories.
  • Fosters excellent safety and environmental culture by emphasizing operating discipline to drive tangible results.
  • Strong focus on compliance in the areas of process safety and environmental permitting, for all responsible areas
  • Ensure production of planned and budgeted products and volumes, for all responsible units through appropriate operations management, maintenance programs, and turnarounds
  • Responsible for participating in a leadership role to support the site emergency response plans
  • Accountable for the development and adherence of annual budgets for cash fixed costs, variable costs, advise and approve capital expenditures within DOA limits.
  • Actively lead the development of team members by focusing on development and succession plans for key roles.
  • Responsible, with HR, for maintaining and negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Lake Charles East Plant

Formal Education

  • University Bachelors Degree Engineering, Chemistry or related field

Working Experience

  • 10+ years relevant experience in industry operations
  • Experience in planning and managing large, complex, continuous operations including experience interacting with local, state, and federal governmental agencies
  • Experience with managing US industry labor unions and/or facilitating collective bargaining agreements
  • Working knowledge and experience with state and federal operation regulations; DEQ; EPA; OSHA, etc

Required Personal/Professional Skills

  • Team leadership qualities demonstrating the ability to build and maintain highly effective work-teams
  • Interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication abilities with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams
  • High emphasis on collaboration with teams and innovative solutions to address complex problems
