Purpose of Job
Be able to perform all functions related to Mechanical Artisan along the Pipeline, this includes maintenance, operations support and fault finding on Pipeline.
Key Accountabilities
- Execution of tasks associated with maintenance inspections and strategies
- An ability to scope and execute small projects
- Installation, testing and commissioning of new or repaired mechanical equipment and/or installations in accordance with Sasol specifications
- Knowledge of pipeline maintenance system.
- Knowledge of various types of mechanical valves
- Ability to perform and facilitate statutory inspections
- Compliance to the MOC process for changes to existing plant and equipment
- SHE Enablon Inspections (SHERQ)
- Utilisation of and adherence to RCA procedures
- A practical understanding of hazardous area classifications
- QA/QC experience on mechanical equipment/installations
- Shutdown planning and execution experience
- Full compliance to Sasol task risk assessments, work instructions and working procedures
- Understand and use the plant maintenance documentation system
- Understand planning work management system
- Able to apply emergency procedures
- Participates in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments
- Support the goals and vision of the business by meeting deadlines
- Maintains good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures
- Lead by example (walks the talk)
- Assists with the development of works instructions to develop a higher level of staff competency
- Take the lead in team efforts/tasks
- Able to act as group leader (if appropriate to career path)
- Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and direction
- Mentor learners/artisans informally
Formal Education
- Minimum: Grade 12 with Maths, Science & NQF L 4 Mechanical
- N4 certificate in Mechanical Engineering
Working Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified artisan
- SAP experience will be an advantage
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of Sasol’s permit
General Job Requirements
- Travelling along Pipeline Servitude on Mozambique to Secunda Pipeline (MSP) in extension of 540km within the Mozambique Section
- Support to electrical/instrument maintenance and production when requested
- Participation in artisan standby duties for Pipelines Operations in Mozambique
