Purpose of Job

Implement the company’s approved inventory management methodology for Stock‑on‑Consignment within Sasol’s Retail business. Ensure maximum site uptime by proactively monitoring stock levels through the ATG system, while optimizing inventory investment and mitigating business risks. Investigate and report all stock variances (theoretical vs. physical), providing clear and accurate root‑cause documentation in full compliance with SOX control requirements. Prepare, maintain, and analyse inventory reconciliation reports, including mass balance, strictly adhering to SOX control standards. Manage and develop direct reports, ensuring effective performance and alignment with inventory management objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • To consolidate requirements and provide shared services to ensure uninterrupted stock replenishment.  
  • KPI tracking, management reporting and monthly reconciliation.
  • Adhere to Hub inventory policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintain working capital invested in stock within approved limits for the assigned category.
  • Analyze inventory movements, levels and demand patterns to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Oversee and monitor consignment inventory movements for Retail sites on consignment stock.
  • Maintain and manage wet stock reconciliations (WSRs) for the entire retail sites on consignment.
  • Control and identify critical risks to maintain effective control of inventory management.
  • Identify, investigate WSR discrepancies and adhere to adequate relevant inventory accounting standards.
  • Administer and handle customer queries and provide timely feedback for consignment inventory at retail sites.
  • Process stock adjustments in line with periodic inventory reporting requirements (strictly adhering SOX control requirements).
  • Report on consignment inventory as per management and compliance requirements and provide ad hoc inventory-related reporting when needed.
  • Ensure strict compliance to SOX controls and related processes, procedures and documentation/record-keeping requirements (including cooperation with Customer Demand Fulfilment team on Mass Balance etc.).
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders (CDF, Finance, Retail Operations) to maintain optimal levels of inventory by site (optimize working capital), monitor inventory levels and replenishment orders.
  • Adhere to relevant inventory policies, procedures (SOPs) and accounting standards.
  • Provide ad-hoc cross-functional support to Retail Business Support team as and when required (billing, master data, reporting etc.)
  • Take accountability in review and update inventory policies, recommend, influence & motivate for operational changes to improve efficiency or performance.
  • Manage and understand System Integration SAP/ATG, Insite360 and End-End data transmission pipeline process including other relevant applications.

Formal Education

  • University Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Management)

Min Experience

  • 6+ relevant years’ experience
  • SAP MM, SD, Finance, Microsoft Office ( Advance Excel).
