Purpose of Job

To prepare financial reports and support with complex financial transactions, reconciliation of account balances and bank statements, maintenance of the general ledger, and the preparation of month-end close procedures to present accurate and complete reports to stakeholders.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

 

Business Processes/ Financial System processes:

 

Responsible for all the SAP and OneStream reporting.

Participate in process and system enhancements (including Power BI and OneStream) and assist in the creation of new financial policy and procedures.

Ensure accuracy of GL account mapping used in the various financial reporting systems.

 

Statutory Reporting:

 

Plan, monitor and co-ordinate the Business Unit Statutory Reporting process for year end and half year end.

Compilation and preparation of the stand-alone Business Unit Annual Financial statements.

Conducts research and assist with accounting and disclosure issues.

Support or prepare, where required, statutory returns to appropriate authorities.

Assist with position papers on accounting treatments to Reporting Practices Committee.

Provide financial information to External & Internal auditors.

Serve as the interface between the Chemicals financial reporting and management accounting teams.

Detailed understanding of the applicable financial reporting tool (OneStream), Power BI Intercompany tool, reporting packs and the Sasol accounting manual.

Prepare the Business unit reporting pack. For half year and year end, assist with all statutory reporting deliverables, ie responding on queries, managing of overs and unders, annexures sign-offs & analytical reviews.

Coordinate the deregistration and/or liquidation of dormant entities.

Submitting reports to Stats SA and SA Reserve bank and Sasol Group and other key stakeholders.

 

Month end and Budgets:

 

Responsible for month end reporting into the applicable financial reporting tool (OneStream).

Assist with compilation of the budget & Forecast balance sheet and cash flow requirements and capture budgets and forecasts (both IS & BS) in the applicable financial reporting tool (OneStream).

Provide financial information for reporting to the Board/Opscom, if applicable, and for Business Unit reporting.

Assist with Adhoc requests during month end, forecast and budget periods.

 

Compliance:

 

Comply with requirements in terms of controls over financial reporting, perform monthly SOX. controls and perform SOX testing during testing cycles for GL.

 

Tax Support:

 

Preparation of tax returns in conjunction with Group Tax Services, At year end and half year end, assist Tax with information to support accurate income and deferred tax calculations.

Assist with tax and deferred tax accounting/disclosure in BU with support from BU Tax advisor.

 

Managing team members:

 

Manage and develop direct reports.

Ensure accurate and timely results are delivered through direct reports.

Identify, contribute and support succession planning and career growth.

 

Formal Education

Minimum 3-4 Year University Bachelor's Degree in a finance or related field

Experience

Minimum 6 relevant years

Proven technical financial reporting skills. Working knowledge of SAP

Onestream skills

Current knowledge of IFRS, relevant Companies Act and Tax knowledge

Professional Membership

Completed CA(SA) will be an advantage
