Purpose of Job

To lead and manage economic policy and regulation development and implementation relating to liquid fuel and gas impacting Sasol. Lead the Energy Pricing team in developing and managing prices and tariffs across various sales channels for liquid fuels and gas. Develop short and long-term assumptions for prices, margins, tariffs, and markets, and support in calculating, loading and administering controlled and contractual pricing related to liquid fuels, residual products and pipeline gas prices. To influence, develop and manage relationships with Sasol’s Government, regulatory industry stakeholders and thought leaders/key influencers in the energy regulation environment, and understand their position and level of influence on energy policy and regulation. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the economic regulatory and pricing strategy to drive corporate sustainable development.
  • Identify shifts in economic regulations and policy which might impact the organization.
  • Influence, develop and manage relationships with relevant government, political and regulatory stakeholders and thought leaders/key influencers in the economic and energy sectors.
  • Analyze, prioritize, lead the response formulation and pro-actively provide inputs for engagement into regulatory dialogue, progress on commitments compliance requirements, potential threats and opportunities.
  • Lead economic policy discussion and engagement that enables market access and growth for Sasol’s products.
  • Develop positions and comment on energy, tariff and pricing methodologies where those impact Sasol.
  • Lead implementation of regulated prices and tariffs.
  • Actively champion the development of consistent, coherent and sustainable regulation by developing and advancing Sasol’s messages for its long-term sustainability and license to operate and trade in energy.
  • Guide preparation and submission of licenses, where necessary.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders, discuss improvement projects, and pursue effective collaboration with other units of Sasol group.
  • Take the lead in constructively contributing a sustainable (liquid fuels and gas related policy landscape in selected operating jurisdictions).
  • Oversee tracking and monitoring of the external environment particularly the international political and other developments that may impact the organization.
  • Work closely with operations and business to ensure the impact of economic regulations and policy is understood.
  • Advise on regulatory constraint, opportunity and impact on strategy.

Formal Education

  • University Bachelor’s Degree
  • Post Graduate Honours Degree (will be an added advantage)

Min Experience

  • 12+ years relevant experience
