Purpose of Job

Sustainable value creation is critical to Sasol’s business of the future. We are looking for a specialist to join the Strategy & Sustainability team to support the development and OME-led execution of global market mechanism and sustainability certification strategies aligned to Sasol’s low carbon strategy. Market mechanisms include carbon offsets, renewable energy certificates, sustainable aviation fuel certificates and emerging mechanisms like plastics, water, circularity and biodiversity credits; while sustainability certification includes the certification of feedstocks, assets and products to produce sustainable fuels and chemicals for the voluntary (e.g. RSB Global, ISCC Plus) and regulated (EU RED, CORSIA) markets. Credible market mechanisms with high environmental integrity, supported by robust sustainability certification and assurance, are expected to play a material role in the delivery of Sasol’s sustainability drive. Market mechanisms can therefore deliver value to Sasol in multiple areas: through cost-effective contribution to achieving our GHG reduction ambitions, preventing value erosion from Sasol’s foundation business through carbon tax liability reduction and the development of carbon neutral energy product customer value propositions for existing and new customers - with the opportunity to develop a material new business area. The role will leverage opportunities across the Sasol businesses to ensure holistic market mechanism and sustainability certification strategies are delivered for the company.
