Purpose of Job
To operate basic mechanical /electro-mechanical equipment and machines, and carry out routine tasks following strict, detailed instructions to meet performance targets.
Applicant must be have a good understanding of maintenance on various types of pumps and blowers. Must be able to work in accordance with quality plans and work procedures. Be conversant with the technical parameters governing pump maintenance regarding, mechanical seal installation, bearing clearances, gaskets, rotors, couplings, alignment and protection devices. The applicant must be a good team player, be able to work overtime and perform standby duties.
Key Accountabilities
- Removable, maintenance and installation of rotating equipment
- Comply to safety standards / procedures
- Identify all unsafe conditions and bring under the attention of management
- Perform basic job execution planning w.r.t. tools, consumables, spares, 3rd party requirements and safety.
- Conduct plant inspections
Formal Education
- Grade 12 with maths and science or N3 with Maths, Science and English (MUST) – NQF Level 4
- Qualified as an Artisan Fitter NQF 4 (Sasol or Olifantsfontein) (MUST) – NQF Level 4
- Valid Code 8 drivers licence (MUST)
- Valid Code 10 drivers licence will be to your advantage
Work Experience
NQF4 artisan certification- with knowledge and practical exposure of maintenance of rotating equipment, which include but not limited to:
- Centrifugal pumps
- Positive displacement pumps
- Mechanical seal installation
- Fin Fans / blowers
- Knowledge of laser alignment
- Knowledge of safety standards / similar safety systems
- Knowledge of quality management system
- Knowledge of environmental management system
