Purpose of Job

To provide assistance on day-to-day general laboratory activities, including sample transportation, waste removal, general cleaning, and experimentation when required.

Key Accountabilities

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of safety rules, standards, and procedures. • Attend relevant safety courses and seminars as per the training matrix and requirements in the lab. • Transport samples safely between the different sites within the Sasolburg area. • Deliver and collect laboratory consumables from stores. • Facilitate logistics of sending samples to customers. • Change gas cylinders as per safe work procedures and inform the laboratory administrator in time to order stock when low. • Support Research and Development personnel with laboratory activities according to instruction. • Ad hoc related tasks on request of more senior personnel. • Maintain good housekeeping principles in the laboratory and stores including cleaning benches, floors, glassware, etc. • Ascertain timely lab vehicle maintenance including re-fuelling, tyre pressure, cleaning, oil and water levels, and regular inspections. • Discard waste (e.g. wax, glass, metal, plastic, emulsions) according to prescribed safe working procedures. • Apply evidence-based safety practices in alignment with set standards for safe operations. • Build and maintain positive relationships with the lab staff to enable the achievement of a collaborative environment. • Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals.

Formal Education

Matric or equivalent with Maths and Science as subjects

Working Experience

Experience: 0+ relevant year

Code 08 Driver's license
