Purpose of Job
A Material Controller, receive, stack, pick and dispatch loads, and is responsible for the safe transportation of material and product, and to load and off load trucks, using a forklift, reach truck and very narrow aisle machine (VNA)
Key Accountabilities
Perform pre-start and start up inspection/checks as per checklist on the material handling equipment’s to be used before the start of the shift. • Complete the inspection checklist and report all defects to Shift Supervisor. • Perform visual checks on new production to check the printing , grade, packaging, stretch wrapping and the pallet. • Ensure that each pallet is scanned before stacking it in the racks or block stacks. • Ensure that the material grade and batch picked is in accordance with the requirements of the picking note. • Ensure each pallet is scanned when taking out of the racks/block stacks for the customer orders. • Perform quality inspection check as per quality checklist before loading a truck for a customer. • Do cycle, half year and financial year stock count. • Scan each pallet when loading it on the truck and do the post goods issuing to ensure that the product loaded is out of the system. • Complete all relevant delivery documents • Ensure that part batches are correctly checked for number of bags, grade and batch number. • Re-pack part pallets as and when requested by authorized persons. • Offload customer return truck by hand or forklift/reach truck as requested by authorised persons and record the information of the product offloaded (grade, batch number, customer delivery number and total number of bags/pallets offloaded). • Wash and clean forklifts on completion of each shift worked.
Re-pack pallets when material damages have been identified. • Clean up all identified spillages in warehouse facilities (e.g. product, oil, diesel, etc) • Comply with all safety requirements and procedures for each warehouse facility. • Forward delivery documents to warehouse administrators. • Applies good housekeeping practices. • Comply with all legal requirements. • Assist warehouse area supervisor in checking unsafe stacking in the warehouse • Re-stack unsafe stacking • Operate machine to standard procedure (License) • Deduct missing bags from total to determine total bags stacked. • Work overtime as and when required • Attend and participate in area meeting / safety / morning / toolbox talks • Daily activities executed according to plan • Follow instructions according to job requirements • Attend training courses and seminars • Work effectively in a team • Report unsafe conditions / situations • Make suggestions on improvement of work procedures and instructions. • Build and maintain positive relationship with internal and external stakeholders to enable the achievement of operational excellence. • Continuously improve own skills and knowledge to attain personal and business goals.
