Purpose of Job

Ensure that sound financial management and reporting practices are implemented and applied in the Business Unit. Ensures effective, accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders. Support the cost and profit centre managers with financial analysis with a proactive and positive attitude to facilitate decision making.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide accurate and consistent management reports to cost centre owners
  • Prepare SAP journals to ensure correct cost allocation between general ledger accounts and cost centres.
  • Evaluate completeness of monthly cost and create provisions/accruals were necessary from the commitment report.
  • Prepare monthly analysis of cost centres to identify areas of concern to be addressed by cost centre owners
  • Guidance to cost centre owners on financial decisions including scenario analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Prepare and update forecast and budgets as per the timeline received.
  • Perform variance analysis of expenditure against budget and forecast.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations/schedules for general ledger accounts under their control.
  • Support shutdowns adherence to plan, cost reporting and capitalizing labour as per the guidelines
  • Assist business to achieve cost targets by reviewing the calculations and ensuring the ARC tool is updated.
  • Tracking of financial and operating results against KPIs to be reported to cost centre owners.
  • Provide continuous training to cost centre owners in terms of cost awareness, optimization and available SAP and Power BI cost reports.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to drive integration between operations and finance
  • Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement and track personal development plant to attain personal performance goals
  • Perform in-depth cost analysis to monitor costs against Sasol targets and highlight concerns
  • Process sales documentation and issues invoices.
  • Present and confirm the accuracy and completeness of SAP data.
  • Guidance to cost centre owners on financial decisions including scenario analysis to inform business decisions
  • Give guidance to cost centre owners in terms of budget and forecast trends and requirements
  • Support finance team in preparing value chain results for budget and quarterly forecast presentations.
  • Perform bi-annual impairment reviews for relevant CGU’s.
  • Maintain SAP structures to align with BU/value chain requirements and make budget changes accordingly.
  • Maintain BW structure to align with BU/value chain/area requirements.
  • Implement and calculate relevant unit cost measures.

Formal Education

University Bachelors Degree
BTech University Bachelors Degree (South Africa) in Finance

Working Experience

Experience that will be advantageous

  • Financial management, understanding of budget and forecast.
  • Proven management reporting skills, reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Value chain knowledge
