Purpose of Job
To observe operation of automotive machines and verify conformance to specifications and quality standards to meet production targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Adhere to all safety regulations and work standards.
- Carry out planned maintenance activities to Diesel equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct basic risk assessments on task to be performed.
- Conduct fault-finding and identify equipment failure modes by applying basic asset management principles.
- Apply the basic reliability engineering principles (MTBF, basic failure trending, understand the
- link between failures and maintenance strategies).
- Be able to accurately scope parts and services required to conduct equipment / vehicle maintenance as per end user’s request.
- Be able to communicate and influence decisions and actions of stakeholders on other departments.
- Be able to prioritize, track work and follow through on tasks (including administrative) to support turn around times on maintenance activities.
- Maintain required housekeeping standards at area of work and in workshop.
- Conduct Safety Management inspections
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Prepared to do physical and uncomfortable work as stipulated in the job description.
- Willingness to coach and transfer knowledge from own known environment and experience.
- Be willing to perform standby duties and work overtime when required (in accordance with legislation)
- Be willing and capable to act in supervisory position and fulfil supervisory responsibilities as and when required.
- Be able to manage self, work individually but also as part of a team.
- Must be a self-driven individual.
Formal Education
- Matric with Maths, English and Physical Science
- NQF 4 trade test
- Section 28 trade tested artisan (Diesel Artisan)
- Drivers licence – minimum code EB, preferably code EC (Valid PDP will be advantageous)
