Purpose of Job
Utilise sound level of experience in electrical engineering to deliver electrical engineering operational support ensuring that the technical ability of plants meet the operating intent, whilst governing operational technical standards. Ensure installed assets are being operated at the most profitable operating window that will be determined by, but not limited to, throughputs, utility consumption, availability, reliability and quality.
Key Accountabilities
Develop subject matter expertise to provide direct support to Operations, Engineering (Plant Support) and Projects and Engineering. • Display fundamental knowledge of business family technologies and business drivers. • Combine unrelated data and information to create new insight and to interpret technologies. • Utilise electrical engineering systems, tools and standards in all power electronic related projects. • Solve problems on related BU level and impact value chains. • Evaluate and improve the definition of problem statements and opportunities in the electrical fraternity. • Ensure best practices on electrical systems and maintain compliance in own area and/or site wide. • Set criteria for specific power electronic maintenance strategies from the specifications/standards and OME requirements. • Know & understand equipment failure modes and failure trends of power electronics to manage predictability. • Apply in depth knowledge in integration of electrical network and equipment necessities with regards to process requirements. • Show ability to provide power electronic maintenance management support on complex electrical systems. • Investigate and develop condition-based and electrical problem-solving methodologies to enhance predictability. • Mitigate electrical risks through engineering out / improvement / renewal / re-design (enable or initiate). • Manage deviations from electrical specifications or standards when necessary. • Deliver integrated and in-time electrical technical support to the OME to improve stability. • Provide and facilitate timely and thorough recommendations on short term, intermediate and long-term integrity issues to the OME and formally escalate. • Provide technical support to address complex power electronic problems and minimise production impact. • Assist plant support engineers with root cause analysis investigations for power electronic -related breakdowns and ensure that effective corrective actions are identified to be implemented to prevent re-occurrence of incidents. • Assist in the selection of external electrical service providers by measuring their technical competence. • Ensure project success by adherence to cost, schedule and quality targets for small single discipline electrical projects where the role of engineering or project manager is fulfilled. • Identify technical advanced electrical equipment that can have a significant production impact.

• Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation. • Ensure personal development plans are completed, implemented and tracked within applicable career path. • Provide efficient and high-quality services to stakeholders. • Maintain healthy and stable relationships with power electronic manufacturers. • Active practicing of interpersonal skills to ensure productive working relationships and to work with, or through, others internal and/or external (including suppliers) the organisation to get work accomplished. • Display maturity and emotional intelligence. • Operate successfully in a diverse work environment. • Update work instructions and other governance documents related to power electronic equipment. • Comfortable working with tools on power electronic equipment to do fault finding. • Capable of performing and leading power electronic FAT and SAT activities during projects and shutdowns. • Responsible for supporting OME procurement in the technical evaluation of power electronic manufacturers. • Ensure that fault tree analysis is in place for technically advanced equipment. • Compile Business Unit specific equipment roadmap to display renewal plan • Take the lead or assist with electrical incident investigations when production losses are incurred. • Interpret and translate business requirements into an electrical engineering strategy to enable OME to safely meet production targets. • Be responsible for own performance management. • Report on budget utilisation, forecasting and changes. • Oversee the management of external service providers. • Oversee the safety of external service providers during project execution.
Formal Education
University Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng) degree or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical
