Purpose of Job
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically competent Instrumentation SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) Application Specialist to support and administer our engineering information systems. The successful candidate will leverage their instrumentation engineering knowledge to maintain data integrity, support engineering projects, provide system governance, and ensure effective utilization of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) across the business.
The role requires a strong understanding of instrumentation engineering principles combined with experience in engineering data management and SmartPlant Instrumentation administration.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering Application Support
- Provide application support and administration for SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).
- Configure and maintain SPI data structures, reference data, standards, and application settings.
- Investigate and resolve application-related issues raised by users.
- Liaise with engineers, technicians, project teams, and external service providers regarding SPI requirements and support activities.
- Support system upgrades, testing, migrations, and implementation activities.
Instrumentation Data Management
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of instrumentation engineering data.
- Support the creation, maintenance, and governance of instrument indexes, loop diagrams, hook-ups, cable schedules, and related deliverables.
- Perform data quality reviews and audits to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
User Support and Training
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering users.
- Develop and maintain works instructions, procedures, and user documentation.
Governance and Compliance
- Manage user access and security in accordance with company governance requirements.
- Maintain audit readiness and support compliance activities.
- Promote adherence to engineering and data management standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows and data management processes.
- Assist with the implementation of system enhancements and process improvements.
- Participate in digitalization and engineering information management initiatives.
Formal Education
Advanced Diploma, BTech, or Degree in:
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation)
- Process Control Engineering
- Related Technical Discipline
Working Experience
Minimum Requirement:
- 5 years' experience in instrumentation engineering, maintenance, projects, or engineering services.
- Practical experience with instrumentation design, maintenance, or plant operations.
- 2 years' experience using SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) or similar engineering data management systems.
- Experience in petrochemical, mining, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
Technica Knowledge:
- Instrumentation and control systems.
- Instrument indexes and loop management.
- Field instrumentation and control valves.
- Process control principles.
- Engineering drawings and documentation.
- SPI modules and functionality.
- Engineering data governance and quality management.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
Advantageous:
- SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) administration experience.
- SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) /SDx Smart Digital Plant exposure.
- SmartPlant P&ID experience.
- Experience supporting multiple sites or business units.
- Experience with engineering information management systems.
- Knowledge of data migration and engineering system integrations.
