Purpose of Job

The radio foreman is to guarantee the operational integrity and availability of the site's electronic communication infrastructure. The incumbent achieves this by providing direct leadership, coaching team members to build their expertise, and holding the team accountable for delivering excellence in safety, maintenance, quality, and cost control.

Key Accountabilities

Planning, control and management of maintenance activity.

Ensure effective execution of maintenance activities.

Ensure maximum task quality and efficiency, and overall effective use of equipment.

Manage and control costs.

Ensure own team adhere to operational/maintenance procedures and for people and workshop. 

Ensure maintenance planning is scheduled optimally to maximise productivity. Take action on first occurrence performance problems, misconduct, disciplinary and grievance cases.

Manage performance of own team.

Ensure sensitisation to diversity in the workplace.

Get results through empowering others to act.  Enable artisans to achieve competence for career progression.

Coaching and technical training of own staff.

Ensures team motivation and team wellness.

Lives company values and ensures compliance of team to the values.

Facilitate effective Communication up and down from management and also within own and other stakeholder teams.

Ensure standard operating procedures are applied.

Ensure compliance to Process Safety Management.

Participate in potential deviation analysis (PDA), root cause analysis (RCA) and risk assessments.  Participate in Task Risk Assessments and ensure that team adhere.

Ensure compliance to relevant Sasol procedure, policies, legislation and business processes. 

Manages exposure based safety program Ensure adherence to SHERQ legal standards and implement SHERQ processes for own area of responsibility.

Ensure resources are available on site.

Understands customer requirement and ensures service meets customer requirements.

Effective interaction with supporting activities.

Identifies and supports inter-dependencies with own and other departments within the value chain. 

Give input into how to improve overall service delivery in the workshop

Continuously applies new ideas/work methods to improve results.

Deals with human resistance to change in own area.

Provide information/assist with technical/support functions.

Avail staff for training and development required due to the change initiative.

Ensure implementation of organisational change initiatives within own team.

Work Experience

8 years relevant experience as Electrical or Instrument Maintenance Senior Artisan role. (Must)

Strong leadership potential and competency are required, and preference will be given to candidates with in minimum 1 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity (maintenance supervisor or foreman or acting in a similar role) (must)

Working in a confined space or at heights, more that 20m height

Good knowledge of RF and radio communication systems

Good knowledge in computer literacy is a must (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

Working knowledge and experience in SAP ( PS1 production and HR)

Formal Education

Grade 12/N3 with Maths Science and English 

Qualified Electrical or instrument artisan NQF 4 (with a Red Seal) with Grade 12 with maths and science, or National Diploma in electronics LC Engineering.

Valid vehicle Drivers License
