Purpose of Job
The Role will support the Sasol Mining Operations with advance decision making capabilities by applying industrial engineering (IE) skills, techniques and knowledge.
This role executes, advise and facilitate improvement related solutions making use of technical tools and data driven decision making practises. In addition, this role conceptualize, develop and implement data related improvement solutions. The role supports technology advances from a data and process perspective, it fosters a data driven decision making culture and supports Business Improvement initiatives on a strategic, tactical and operational level.
Key Accountabilities
Simulation Modelling & Advanced Analytics
- Advance integrated complex decision making capabilities by enabling modelling tools and adopting advances in technology.
- Identifying opportunities via system analysis and translate modelling insights into practical recommendations with clear value cases, risks, and implementation requirements.
- Support and enable the Sasol Mining Operations by applying industrial engineering skills, techniques and knowledge to leverage company resources that optimise both production and non-production processes.
- Use simulation outcomes to quantify constraints, forecast performance, evaluate capital investment options, and recommend optimal operating strategies.
Process Optimisation, Operational Excellence & Industrial Engineering
- Provide system and process intelligence to operations to drive continuous improvement, assisting in identifying and addressing sources of inefficiency, variability, and cost drivers.
- Influence and assist operations in the roll-out & sustained application of improvement solutions developed.
- Support the rationalisation, simplification and optimisation of workflows, standards and operating practices.
- Benchmark processes internally and externally, updating standards and best practices to remain competitive.
- Contribute to the Industrial Engineering practises through engineering analysis, modelling insights, and structured business improvement interventions.
- Identify and communicate SHE risks and ensure all solutions meet regulatory and company requirements.
People Development, Relationships & Capability Building
- Mentor and develop Engineers-in-Training in modelling, analytical methods, and industrial engineering principles.
- Support the development of modelling tools, templates, and practices to grow advanced decision making capability within the business.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders. Participate in communities of practice.
