Purpose of Job

Lead and guide colleagues in the instrumentation & control and production fraternities to ensure plant availability and efficient operation. Manage resource allocation and indicate timeously resourcing needs towards the execution of projects and support to operations. Execute on day-to-day operations and assist with coordination of activities within the OT (Operation Technology) segments for Siemens, Rockwell and CCC systems of the organisation whilst acting as a key contributor to support the design, implementation, administration, maintenance and monitoring of OT systems and services. Assisting the various businesses units in ad-hoc RCAs, confirmation studies for adherence to best practises, specifications, and procedures. The technical and project tracks on a day-to-day basis to ensure correct resource allocation of time, cost, quality, scope, risk, and benefits that indicate timeous resourcing needs towards the execution of projects and support to operations.

Key Accountabilities

As an OT technical advisor, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our operational technology systems. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and security of our OT infrastructure. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Have extensive knowledge on the application side of the following systems: Siemens, Rockwell and CCC
  • Designing and deploying OT systems to support industrial processes and operations.
  • Configuring and optimizing OT devices and control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) applications, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and industrial networks.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting DCOM setups on the systems to ensure dataflow to the historians.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate OT systems with IT infrastructure and business applications.
  • Monitoring OT systems performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Implementing cybersecurity measures to protect OT systems from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing best practices for OT system security and compliance.
  • Providing technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Documenting OT system configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Application, adherence and compliance of legal requirements, policies, practices, standards, procedures, guidelines and methods.

Formal Education

National Diploma in (Instrumentation / Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Operational Technology)
