Purpose of Job

  • Create communications strategies for Sasol Mining initiatives, launches, events, and promotions in line with identified audiences and relevant stakeholders and according to set budget.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the delivery of robust communication and employee engagement plans for Sasol (Mining) and measurement against KPIs.  
  •  Partner with and counsel leaders and subject experts across mining operations and drive the execution of communication deliverables against agreed objectives.   
  • Collaborate and partner with peers and BU counterparts and provide strategic oversight in the development and execution of mining-wide or region-specific programmes, events and initiatives.  
  • Craft professional content for a variety of channels/platforms and manage assigned communication tools, channels and platforms, while ensuring adherence to governance guidelines and processes for the distribution of content 
  • Allocate needed budget to reach communication goals.
  • Oversee implementation and execution of events and exhibitions organised by Sasol Group.
  • Drive and promote special events and functions.
  • Plan and manage design, content, and production of all communication materials.
  • Work with designated departments to generate new ideas and strategies to improve communications strategy.
  • Oversee responses to communication-related issues and incidents promptly.
  • Continuously benchmark and share best practices to enhance Group communications.
  • Lead a communication team.

Formal Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Communication
  • Postgraduate qualification will be advantageous

Working Experience

  • 9+ relevant years
  • Relevant work experience in mining or similar type environment
