Purpose of Job

To implement and maintain functional rehabilitation and assessment programs and ensure the quality of specified client care activities in line with scope of occupational therapists as directed by Health Professionals Council of South Africa. To implement, maintain and effectively manage the rehabilitation area and ergonomics program and to adhere to legal requirements associated with the profession, which includes but not limited to:

• Rehabilitation and Functional Assessment management.

• Ergonomic management.

• Job Analysis management.

• Reporting.

• Equipment and stock control management.

• Administration and meetings.

• Risk assessments.

• SHERQ adherence and compliance in own area of work.

• To have overall accountability for the planning and management of own complex and specialised caseload.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Ensure full understanding of the One Sasol SHE Excellence approach and the risk based implementation methodology.

Ensure full understanding of Sasol Group key SHE undesirable events and Sasol Group controls.

Implement the SHE risk-based approach to manage key SHE undesirable events and SHE risk controls relevant to this role.

Deliver on health programme by planning and coordination and Interpret and report of medical surveillance program and finings.

Deliver in time and cost effective health programme.

Adhere to quality management systems.

Ensure effective cost awareness and control.

Accept and implement advice in order to improve the health programme.

Monitoring referring and following up on patients.

Treatment and management of occupational injuries/diseases.

Coordination of medical surveillance scheduling.

Case management of COID claims. Values behaviour, Personal development and effectiveness.

Leadership accountabilities to reach results (where applicable) Support Company vision, values and goals. Manage performance goals agreement and alignment.

Align and deliver to objectives within team. Formulate PDP and monitor individual competence improvement.

Improve personal technical and specialist skills and knowledge.

Ensure that work and health programmes meet business requirements, demands and objectives.

Execute medical surveillance scheduling program for all Sasol BU's in region.

Translate medical surveillance scheduling program and service delivery specifications into team and individual priorities.

Ensure the effective application and review of policies, practices, standards, procedures & methods.

Execute programmes in accordance to SHE policies and statutory requirements.

Identify problems to effectively refer and implement solutions based on recommendations.

Progress monitoring, reporting and corrective action Compile monitoring and progress report.

Statutory compliance and professional practices - Comply with professional and statutory requirements.

Ensure effective internal and/or external stakeholder management Manage customer and supplier relationships Participate in the implementation of corrective and remedial actions.

Support Sasol to retain OSAS 18001 certification with regards to occupational medicine matters.

Participate in appropriate governance and SHE professional forums, e.g. SHE professional's forum and SASOHN.

Contractor/consultant relationships/management Participate in annual team culture and client satisfaction surveys.

Ensure effective relations with all stakeholders.

Assistance of pensioners to facilitate accurate COID reporting of occupational diseases (where relevant).

New ideas, thinking and approaches adopted and supported by the business. Provide new ideas, thinking and approaches.

Employee wellness inputs. Identify and manage interventions to address non-conformances to medical surveillance scheduling.

Formal Education

University Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy

Min Experience

Experience: 4+ relevant years

Professional Memberships

• Certificate in PWC and FWC assessment: Basic principles and methodology or experience/previous exposure to Rehabilitation and functional assessment test battery would be an advantage.

• Certificate of Competence as an Ergonomics Risk Auditor (Recommended)

• First Aid level 1 Certificate (Recommended).

• Accreditation Registration in Health Professional Council of SA (HPCSA) and Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa (OTASA) – Recommended

• Experience in a mining and plant work environment will be an advantage

• Formal qualifications/competencies in hand rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation and assessment, will be advantageous.
