Purpose of Job

Manage the budget, Impairment testing, SMOG and Rehab provision activities for Sasol Mining, ensuring accurate and timely budget consolidations, effective budget controls, accurate impairment testing, and high-quality SOX controls and supporting information for audit purposes, execution of SMOG and rehabilitation provision.

Key Accountabilities

Budget process

• Execute the budget process in Mining, Income statement / Balance sheet of Mining and all related entities
• Upload and balance budgets in OneStream and SAP
• Calculation of the budgeted dividends to be paid to the External Shareholder
• Assist with and submit PVPY
• Calculate transfer prices and perform ad hoc request relating to budget, i.e. scenarios
• Ensure integrity and completeness of budget information used for management reporting and decision-making.
• Assist with Group budget presentations

Impairment testing                                                                                                                                          

• Execute the integrated value chain (IVC) and standalone impairment testing, bi-annual and annually for the CGU’s in Mining
• Ensure calculation is accurate and complete  
• Prepare the RPC paper for impairment

Mining rehabilitation provision

• Execute the Mining rehabilitation provision in OneStream, hard close and financial reporting periods
• Ensure completeness, accuracy of the provision
• Prepare monthly reconciliations

SMOG

• Execute the Table 5 & 6 SMOG calculation
• Ensure calculation is accurate and complete, following agreed assumptions
• Ensure long term production profile is signed off  

Financial Controls, SOX & Audit

• Ensure effective execution and oversight of relevant financial controls.
• Maintain appropriate supporting documentation and evidence.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.
• Monitor compliance with SOX and internal control requirements.

Business Partnering & Decision Support

• Be part of the Finance business partner team between Mining BU’s and the EXCO as well as Group Finance
• Analyse financial and operational information and translate results into presentation to EXCO and Group
• Support management with financial modelling, scenario analysis and decision-making.
• Identify areas of financial concern and influence corrective actions with operational management.

SAP, Financial Data & Reporting

• Review the accuracy and completeness of SAP and OneStream budget information.
• Maintain appropriate cost/profit centre structures and financial reporting structures relevant to the business.
• Support reconciliation between financial systems and management reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes and systems.

Formal Education

• 3-4 year Relevant University Degree

Working Experience

• 6+ relevant years
