Purpose of Job

Supports production by providing effective equipment maintenance and realibility while adhering to procedures / codes, and utilizing all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant old career guide

Electrical Supply and Distribution

Participate in maintaining electrical equipment

Electric power transformers

Substations

Motor Control Centres (MCC)

Bus ducts

Switchgear

Emergency power distribution systems

Electrical meters

Maintain lighting distribution panels and grounding systems

Electrical Safety

Explain the physical effects of excessive electrical current flowing through the human body.

Explain the effect that, voltage, frequency, duration, resistance, and current path contribute to injury.

Outline the basic principles of electricity and the relationship between voltage, current, resistance, induction, and frequency.

Explain the advantages and limitations of protective systems.

Explain the need for varying levels of competency for personnel working on electrical systems and equipment.

Electrical Permits

Use electrical permits for work activities

Electrical Motors

Participate in maintaining electrical motors

Participate in maintaining motor protection controls

Participate in maintaining Electrical drives

Electrical switchgear

Participate in maintaining switchgear

Conduct process switching (equipment isolation).

Conduct inspections

Grounding Systems

Participate in maintaining Grounding Systems

Electrical Motors

Maintain electrical motors, protection controls and Electrical drives

Write draft electrical motor, protection control and Electrical drive maintenance procedures

Electrical Controls

Participate in the maintenance of electrical controls

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Monitor and maintain UPS status

Maintain battery banks

Perform UPS testing

Electrical DC Systems

Participate in maintaining DC Systems

Variable Speed Drives (VSD)

Maintain VSD Systems

Plant & Buildings

Maintain workshop building internal and external electrical systems

Hazardous Area Management

Conduct inspections on classified equipment and logging of deviations

Conduct repairs and replacements on classified equipment

Formal Education

Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate

Working Experience

Experience: 4+ relevant years
