Purpose of Job
The purpose of the senior category specialist in the Coal Sourcing Category is to develop and execute data-driven sourcing strategies that ensure secure, cost-effective coal supply aligned with business needs, while fostering strong stakeholder relationships and supporting operational coal quality and volumes targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Creates documents and deliver structured and compelling external coal sourcing strategy and execution plans based on data-driven insights, stakeholder needs and business objectives within a recognised strategic sourcing process.
- Strategically manage coal purchases portfolio to drive security of supply, risk mitigation and reduced cost base.
- Understanding of the changing business needs regarding coal demand and supply, research coal, market trends and dynamics.
- Testing and evaluation of the new coal sources and coal qualities.
- Develop and maintain long-term strategic relationship with coal miners or producers.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of coal purchases strategies in Sasol Mining Operations and identify enhancement opportunities.
Formal education
University Bachelor’s Degree or BTech degree in Engineering in (Technical, Mining, Industrial Engineering, Geology, Mineral Resources Management).
Masters (as a wish)
