Purpose of Job
To ensure the stability and integrity of the protection and control systems of all electrical switchgear and electrical equipment in the Secunda complex which consists of LV, MV and HV switchgear and equipment.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
• Protection schemes and control systems QC • Integrity testing of CT's and VT's • Detail level faultfinding on live (energized) electrical equipment • Resolve on-site electrical protection system failures • Reconfigure and replacement of faulty and old revision IED's to the latest IED revisions • Protection maintenance tests, protection scheme tests and specialized electrical tests. • Faultfinding and testing on electrical cables • Assisting with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical switchgear to ensure conformity to Sasol standards. • Assisting Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning of electrical switchgear to ensure conformity Sasol standards and specific plant and production requirements • Comprehensive testing of electrical equipment Plant support • Participate in potential deviation analyses (PDA’s), root cause analyses (RCA's) and management of change (MOC's). • Provide inputs into failure mode and effect analyses (FMEA’s) • Fault finding support to the greater Secunda complex. • Provide plant start-up support to areas. • Conducting equipment trip/malfunction investigations
Formal Education
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
-Experience as a Test Technician will be an advantage
-Basic knowledge of specialized electrical test instruments, electrical protection devices including IED’s (Intelligent electronic devices), electrical machines (motors, generators and transformers), LV to HV cables, LV to HV switchgear, electrical protection schemes and design specifications, SCADA and transfer systems
